Canon release smallest HDV camcorder

Canon Canon has unveiled a camcorder which it says is the worlds smallest and lightest offering high definition video.

The HV10 is based on the HDV tape format and uses conventional MiniDV tape for high-definition video storage. Unlike previous HDV camcorders from competitors, the HV10 looks much more like a traditional compact consumer camcorder.

AVCHD - NEW HD recording format

Panasonic and Sony have announced more information on the recently revealed HD recording format, AVCHD.

 

The AVCHD format, which promises to transform the ailing camcorder market and has implications for all HD recording technologies both in and outside the home, allows for the recording and playback of high definition video on 8cm DVD media.

A Very Catchy HD Format for Camcorders.

Digicamera As if things weren’t confusing enough already, we now find another High Definition format – AVCHD

 

AVCHD uses the newer MPEG4 AVC/H.264 compression, which is more efficient than MPEG2 used on standard DVDs.

 

So what does it stand for? Good question. The comments from the guys over at HDTVUK are suggesting that AVC, when used in the context of MPEG4 & H.264, stands for Advanced Video Codec. Fairly obvious I suppose.
